1.) What is your ethnic background? Black or African American.
2.) What did you want to be when you were growing up? A Professional Bowler.
3.) Were you aware that there are non minorities that are professional bowlers? Yes.
4.) What got you interested into bowling? I used to watch the PBA Tour on ABC from 1985-1997 up until it moved to ESPN. I used to the watch some of the following great bowlers bowl on TV: Brian Voss, Pete Weber, Del Ballard, Jr., Marshall Holman, Randy Peterson, David Ozio, Amleto Monacelli, Mike Aulby, Steve Cook, etc.
5.) Did you pursue bowling as a career or did your career goals changed? My career goals changed when I started watching NBA Basketball on TV.
6.) What got you into watching basketball on TV? A bet me & my classmate made when we were in 6th grade.
7.) What kind of bet was it? We betted $2 on who would win the series between the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. I thought the Lakers would win the series & my classmate thought that the Bulls would wrap up the series against the Lakers. The Bulls led the series 3-1 in their best of 7 game series.
8.) Who won the bet? My classmate did. Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls hit a game clincher reverse layup that help sink the Los Angeles Lakers and the Bulls won the series in 5 games to take home their first NBA Title in 1991. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7vsjOHq5E0
9.) What did you want to do when you changed your mind about wanting to be a professional bowler? A Sportscaster.
10.) Were you aware that there are very little minorities that are sportscasters. Yes.
11.) What got you interested in watching NBA Basketball? The 1991 NBA Finals.
12.) Did you pursue being a sportscaster as a career or did your career goals changed? My career goals changed after 14 years of pursuing a career as a sportscaster.
13.) What do you see yourself doing for your career? Anything involving traveling.
14.) What was your major when you was in college? Communications, then Liberal Arts, and lastly General Studies.
15.) What have you learned after graduating from college? Not everyone is for you to succeed so be careful what you tell people what you want to do for your career. I think that was the biggest lesson that I have learned. I also regret telling people because not everyone was pulling for me to succeed. My perseverance made a lot of people jealous & they felt like I was big competition to them and that is why they pride themselves on trying to beat me. I felt that I should have kept my mouth shut and acted like I was going for a Liberal Arts degree because you can be anything with a Liberal Arts or General Studies degree that way no one would have knew until after I got my degree what my major was. 16.) What do you see yourself doing for a career short-term? Any daycare work that is hiring.
17.) What do you see yourself doing for a career long-term? Travel Agent/Travel Clerk or Flight Attendant.
18.) Do you see yourself owning your own business 10 years from now? Absolutely!
19.) What advice would you give to those who are Freshmen in college and who is trying to figure out what they want to do for their career? Tell people who you know you can tell what you want to do for your career because he or she is the one that is pulling for you to succeed. People who tell you that they are proud of you or that they are pulling for you and is not sincere is not really for you.
20.) Give an encouraging word to those who have personal goals that he or she want to achieve. "Don't let negative people who were too weak to following their dreams discourage you from following your dreams."
